Kotaro Oshima's "Former Oshima Residence"

The ``Former Oshima Residence'' is the residence of Kotaro Oshima, the founder and president of Karatsu Bank, who worked hard to modernize Karatsu. The main building was built in 1893, but was dismantled to make way for an elementary school building, and was relocated and restored to its current location in 2017 at a cost of approximately 1 billion yen. The highlight of this Japanese-style building, which is representative of the mid-Meiji period, is the Japanese designs that are applied throughout, such as the paintings on the sliding doors on the roof and the carvings on the railings. It's an exquisite and beautiful spot that will make you want to stay for a long time.
