Castle tourism in Niigata Prefecture

Niigata Prefecture is famous for its snowy snow resorts such as Echigo Yuzawa and Myoko Kogen. Known for its rice terraces at Hoshitoge, it is one of Japan's leading rice producers, and its wide variety of sake has many fans. In the spring, cherry blossom viewing parties are held at Takada Castle Ruins Park, and in the summer, the Nagaoka Festival Fireworks Festival, one of Japan's three major fireworks festivals, is held. It is also characterized by many spots related to Uesugi Kenshin, including the ruins of Kasugayama Castle. Shiozawa-juku Makino-dori Street, which recreates the townscape of the Edo period, is beautiful with the wild geese that are unique to snowy regions.
